Seminar: Jose Rivera

“Engineering Light for Advanced Biophotonics”
Dr. José Rivera
Thursday Feb. 21 at 2:00 pm, LAR 234

Abstract

Once regarded a “solution looking for a problem,” lasers are now indispensable tools in a multitude of industries, spanning from electronics to biomedicine. In this talk, new lasers based on biomolecules will be introduced, in addition to novel optical resonators for fractal mode and multiple-beam generation. Shaping laser light both at its source and external to the laser cavity will be discussed, with an emphasis on biological imaging applications.

Biography
