A Challenging Semester Concludes with Senior Design Virtual Expo

Once again as the end of the semester approached, ECE students showcased their capstone projects during Senior Design Expo, held on Thursday, Dec. 10. While Senior Design projects are traditionally done by two-person teams (one EE and one CpE), the complications due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic made team projects much more challenging. This semester, of the projects judged to be the five best, four were completed by solo teams.

This semester, final judging was handled by a trio of ECE alumni—William Troner (BSEE ’80, JD ’84), Craig LeGrande (BSEE ’91), and Walt Fredrickson (BSEE ’57). The results are below:

Ranking Student(s) Project
First Place Jake Samuelson and Max Gazeroglu IOT Remote Monitoring Device
Second Place Michael Thomas To FPGA or Not to FPGA
Third Place Shida Yang Balance Bot
Fourth Place Sean Edwards GPS Disciplined Oscillator (GPSDO)
Fifth Place Jaxon Brown Desktop Audio MUX

A hearty congratulations to All students who completed their Senior Design projects!
