Jun Kyun Choi is a professor of electronics engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

Abstract

Future data technologies may change the existing value chain of ICT world. In this talk, the existing digital data format and standards for the non-ICT world (smart city, transport, energy, health, logistics, etc.) as well as for ICT world (telecommunication, broadcast, and Internet) are reviewed. Toward future data eco-society, the basic understanding of how to extract information and knowledge from data are discussed. Also, key technical issues of data models are investigated by being aware of some paradox between open data and data security. Finally, key requirements, especially for future data model for smart city and IoT applications, to enable efficient data sharing and aggregation are identified. The standardization strategies for open data platform are proposed.
