Abstract

In the era of 5G, wireless communications promise to support many services such as mobile social platforms, AR/VR, and IoT, etc. 5G technologies provide higher data rate, lower latency, and massive connectivity by defining Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC), and massive Machine Type of Communication (mMTC) as special applications. However, limited wireless resources and capacity continue to fall behind wireless traffic needs. Presently, the capability of user devices has risen substantially, whose joint communication, caching, and computing capabilities can alleviate the heavy burden in conventional wireless networks. To this end, this seminar will first introduce the state-of-art of 5G and existing challenges. We shall then focus on scalable device-to-device (D2D) based wireless caching networks. We present a novel policy for D2D caching that facilitates content sensing and delivery using full duplex (FD) communications,to enable user devices to sense and deliver content over an extended geographic range, where more aggregate cache units are available, thereby circumventing both limited communication range and limited storage of individual devices. Applying stochastic geometry in network modeling, we analyze the performance of the new network architecture. We also apply matching theory, combinatorial optimization, and fractional Programming to achieve collaborative communication, caching, and computing, in order to meet the rising needs of diversified applications in 5G scenarios.
