Príncipe Elected as AAAS Fellow

ECE Distinguished Professor Jose Principe has been notified by the Council of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) that he has been elected to the rank of AAAS Fellow.

Each year, the Council elects members whose “efforts on behalf of the advancement of science, or its applications, are scientifically or socially distinguished.” The Council elected Dr. Príncipe for:

Distinguished contributions to the field of statistical signal processing, specifically by incorporating information theory and kernel functions applied to computational neuroscience.

The honor of being elected a Fellow of AAAS began in 1874 and is acknowledged with a certificate and rosette. This year’s annual meeting will be an online event, taking place Saturday, Feb. 19.
